So, Hi! My name is Richard George Davis, also known as StudioDavis or nighthawk101 on the internet. I'm a husband and father who currently lives in South Africa.

I'm a digital artist who loves creating personal artworks with an emphasis in digital composition which encompasses photo manipulation and montage, with an occasional mixture of a variety of traditional techniques that I’m constantly exploring and developing. My art is based on photographs that go through a heavy process of transformation, assemblage and detail that puts them closer to a pictorial expression. I like to capture the surreal beauty of strange objects, places and phrases in dream-like emotive images that speak to the human subconscious making a statement about the conundrum of the human predicament.

My personal artworks has been showcased worldwide in different printed and digital magazines such as press (Advanced Photoshop Magazine and Photoshop Creative Magazine) and internet (Four Daily Deviations awards at Deviantart.com, two Editor's Choice awards at photoshopcreative.co.uk and seven Daily Feature awards from shadowness.com along with many other website features).

I have been involved in art, design, publishing, prepress, printing and web development for 17 years and I have filled many roles such as a graphic designer, concept artist, art director, creative director, DTP operator, production artist and retoucher. The skills I have acquired are self taught with on the job experience through years of hard work, perseverance, research and the drive to create, improve and succeed.

The work has predominately involved concept and design of advertising, retail, and collateral media which has included large format printing, packaging, die cutting and reproduction along solving IT and design technical issues. The clients I have worked with include African Sales (COTY), Prestige Cosmetics, Ster Kinekor (Playstation) and Disney to name but a few. The tools I use include Adobe CS6, an Apple iMac, a creative imagination, a passion for art and design, loud heavy music, and my creative bag of tricks learnt through many years of experience. Oh, and chocolate.

As for me! Well I'm a not so typical long moused haired and green eyed monster that lives under your bed and only comes out at night to feed on your bad dreams and nightmares... That was a lie. My eyes are blue and according to others I have gorgeous long curly hair, good cheekbones and an agreeable posture. I'm an enthusiast who's really into Apple Macs, art, design, graphics, humour, music, history, alternate lifestyles, liberal views, science, technology, the cosmos and the wonders of life. I enjoy whiling away my free hours with books in need of reading, listening to podcasts and music while occasionally watching documentaries and science fiction television series when I'm not creating artworks. I'm influenced by some of the more prolific yet controversial writers, social commentators and scientists of our time such as Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Fry, Derren Brown, Douglas Adams, Brain Cox, Penn Jillette and Salvador Dali.
